You know Christmas is near in New Zealand when the Pohutukawa start to bloom and show off their vibrant red color. Gotta love the NZ Christmas tree.
I got some mail today stamped in Wellington and the stamp read "Carried by New Zealand Post 05 Dec 12 5 pm From the Middle of Middle-earth – New Zealand". New Zealand Post is all in on the Hobbit-mania.
Do you see how windy it is? Not so much. The grass is cut close to the ground and the Basin Reserve looks very serene. Hard to imagine that there is quite some wind blowing that makes it difficult to stay on the bike from time to time.
The world premiere of the Hobbit in Wellington brought celebrities and lots of people watching the celebrities to Wellington. This is the Embassy Theater with the Gandalf Sculpture and some other props to get people into the mood.
Artists who worked on the Hobbit movie display their craft and invite visitors to buy their art. Many of the things are really nice and not kitsch, but true craftsmanship.
