There have been quite a few fires in Wellington in the last weeks. The fire trucks can be heard rather frequently. We had a fire again on Willis Street, across from work, tonight. Fortunately, the building was up for lease and thus nobody inside who could have gotten hurt.

Not that I already needed it, but the evacuation plans and very visible alarm systems are a novelty for me. You basically have to report to a designated person in case of an emergency of any kind in your building, no matter whether apartment or office building.
