When I saw the set up of the microphone, the three cushions, and the loudspeaker on Manners Mall in the city center of Wellington, I first thought a noise experiment was conducted by recording the noises on the street and playing them back and a hidden camera somewhere that recorded the reactions of people to it.

However, nobody paid any attention to the items on the ground. Later I learnt that it was not an experiment, but a common sight. An old man is seen regularly on Manners Mall with his loudspeaker mumbling into the mic. For that he has become somewhat of an institution in the city. It just happened that he was on break when I took the picture.
