Glowworms catching food – 2012-01-28
Glowworms are fascinating maggots. They live for 9 months and are then starved to death. The longest time they spend as "worms" (but really maggots) under ground near wet areas on the ceiling of caves. There they suspend their string like saliva with which they catch other insects. So what glows on a glowworm? It’s the poop that glows bluish by bioluminescence.
